The referee’s sheet in connection with the Excelsior-Pirates junior match on Saturday showed that S. Baird, of the School team, h!ad played for Excelsior, without a transfer from the School Club, or the consent of the Union.

It was decided that the match be replayed at Rimu at a future date. Two other proposals were defeated—that the matter be held over for the supply of further information, and that the game he awarded to Pirates. The application by the Kiwi Club for the reclassification of T. Webb, from senior to junior, was granted, subject to it being in order. The 'action of the secretary in distributing seventeen footballs to schools throughout the district was approved. Mr Cubush, manager of the team which won the Dittman Shield, submitted his report on the match, and presented the shield 1 to the president to hold.

The president congratulated the’ team on its sterling performance, land on behalf of the Sub-Union lie extendthe very best thanks to the manager and team,

It wag reported that a well-wisher had forwarded £1 to the Sub-Union in recognition of the Shield tdarn's per forma ne'e.

It was decided that a vote of thanks to the manager lie recorded on the minutes.

It was further decided that the Shield be placed m the care of Mr G. W. Keller until such time as it passes from the Sub-Union’s control, iand that it be exhibited in Mr Lawn’s window for one week.

A deputation from the Poultry Club waited on. the meeting, comprising Messrs T. Lynch*- J. Breeze, C. Hart and R.; Herring asking that the SubUnion arrange for a match between Westland and one of the leading Christchurch teams On July 22, when the Poultry Club’s annual show would be concluded.

The deputation thanked the meeting and withdrew. • <•'« : The meeting then-‘went into committee to discuss certain matters pertaining to. rugby, and it was decided that the West Coast Union he asked .to, .meet - the „ Sub-Union" on Tuesday week in an informal discussion.

The application by the. School Club for a free day on July 8, if desired, wan granted, The . following junior matches for Saturday were approved:—Kokatahi v. Pirates, at Rimu, at 3 p.m., (R. Collett); School v. Ross, at Ross, 3 p.m. (J. Rutland); Kiwi v Excelsior, at Class Square, 3 p.m. (F. Garter),

TEAM AGAINST DULLER. The team to represent the West Coast, selected on Saturday night is an excellent one, and the members should be able to give a good account of themselves against Buller next Saturday at Westport. The selection of Pfahlert as full back is perhaps the surprise of the selection, and it would have been better to have placed Agnew in that position. The two wing threequartere have earned their place, and it would have been hard to have left them out. Gilbert is a good centre, and would do equally well at full back. Fong and W. Hughes were certainties for the fiveeighths positions, while Davidson is unlucky to have had Scandrett fighting for the position of half. The forwards are a solid lot, good in the pack, and fast in the open. No fault can lie found with the selection made, though there are one or two players who must have been close up for selection. Altogether .the team .can he said to be well representative of those who took part in Saturday’s game. Of the fifteen players selected seven arc from Grey and eight from Westland, the latter comprising six from the Excelsior club, one from Pirates and one from Ross, while one Excelsior and one Ross, are included in the emergencies.

BULLER TEAM. TO MEET WEST COAST. The Buller team to meet West Coast at Westport on Saturday next is as follows: Full-back: W. Green (Stars). Three-quarters: T. Connelly (.Stars). E. Holder (Old Boys), J. Hill (Rovers). Five-eights: Simpson (United), Loder (United). Half-back: Reid (Rangers). Forwards: t T Stewart (United), G. Orman (Rangers), G. Mason (Old Boys). W. McNeight (Rovers), C. Jack (United), R. Gilsenan (Stars). Robinson (United), J. Caldwell (Old Boys). Emergencies: Backs, C. Jones (Stars), N. Lamont (Old Boys); forwards, E. Moreton (Rangers), R. Gardiner (Stars).
