HIRE-PURCHASE
AN ATTACK ON THE SYSTEM. SEIZURE CAUSES HARDSHIPS. (Per Preso Association — Copyright .) CHRISTCHURCH, June 26. An attack on the hire-purchase system, .with particular reference to the seizure of goods when the payment was almost completed, \v,..s made at a meeting of the executive of the Metropolitan Relief Association this evening. Cases of hardship caused by the seizure of furniture were quoted. Or. the other hand, it was stated that the vendors mostly gave a reasonable period of grace before .seizure. A suggestion made was that the vendor should be allowed to distrain only for the amount of the balance owing.
