' Tenders—Only two tenders were received by the Hokitika Fire Board for the erection of the a.ngle iron hell-tow-er, A. C'ederman £232 14s (accepted) and G. H. Blank £312.
) Personal—Mr F. W. Furlccrt, a former resident of Ross, of the Public Works Department, at present resident engineer at Ohakune, has been appointed district engineer for Otago. South Westland Bridges—The Blue River bridge in South Westland has been completed by Mr A. GY Reynolds, and reports go to show that an excellent and very useful work has been constructed. Mr Reynolds is now engaged ori a bridge over - the Maori river, .while Collyer’s Creek bridge, near Oleum, is a/so under way. The following bridges have also been authorised:— Wills Creek, UpperTTaast, and Waikukupn. The big bridge at Wataroa is aho making good headway. Kokatahi Dairy Cov.—The Kolcatahi dairy factory closed down this-morning after a record run of nine months. In previous years it has been found possible to kerp the factory going for eight months, but an early start enabled them to run for an extra month last season. The output exceeded that of former years and should enable the company to show a handsome profit. The quality of the butter has been excellent and reflects every credit on Mr Monk as manager of the company.
