N.S.W. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, June 22. Tn the semi-firial of the New South Wales amateur golf championship, over 36 holes, Allan Watorson, a youthful player, defeated Harrison on the 36th green, after an intense struggle, in which, at one stage, Harrison was two down with three to play.
In the other semi-final Hattersley defeated Fawcett three and two. Fawcett made a. gallant recovery to reduco his morning deficit of four down, bin: he was unable to shake his younger opponent’s grip of the match. Waterson and Hattersley play off on Saturday/
(Received this day at 1.30 p.m.) ’ LONDON, June 22. In the amateur golf championship, Dunlop had a stirring win over Somerville after the latter was two up. Dunlop’ clinched matters lofting over a stymie and following with an eagle. Dunlop playing againtst Hartley was uncanny in approaching and putting. He holed the last eight in twenty-six, one better than Compston’s strokes when the latter made a record for the course.
