POPPY SALES
R.S.A. CONFERENCE DECISION. WELLINGTON, June 21. The New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association at the annual meeting to-day decided that the minimum prices at which poppies should lie sold on Poppy Day be Is. There was a diversion of opinion on the subject, and on a vote being taken, the motion was carried by 59 votes to 53. It was decided that a suitable emblem be devised for Poppy Day ior children only, to be issued free through the schools, the headmasters to be asked to distribute these as a gift from the N.Z. R.S.A., and to ask the children to contribute their pennies for the purchase of poppies to make wreaths for Anzac Day. Arrangements are to he made for the co-operation of all Education Boards. The following motion by Mr W. Perry was carried : “That headquarters obtain from local Associations particulars of, their organisation for selling poppies with a view to devising a comprehensive scheme of organisation for Poppy Day.”
