SALVAGE OF GOLDEN HARVEST MATSON CO-MRtfNY’s LOSS. (Per Press Association—Copyright). WELLINGTON, June 21. Thi s morning a writ, issued on behalf of the ‘ Wellington Harbour Bon'd, claiming £6OOO for salvage and services rendered, was ’ affixed to the mainmast of the steamer Golden Harvest. TJp to the present, no contract has been let for the work of repairing the .steamer. Tenders, which closed last Thursday, were submitted bv cable to the Matson Navigation Company, owners of the ship, at San Francisco, but so far it is understood that no decision has ■been reached. Pending a decis’on as to the future of the eh ip it lias been arranged to patch tip* damaged portions of the hull isufficrcntly to make the vessel watertight, so that .she can be taken off the dock. A start was made with this work this morning by W. Cable and Co., who will put temporary plates over the holes in the ship’s hull. It i s expected this work will be completed in time to permit of the ship being taken off the dock next Monday. The Golden Harvest lyy, now flwa on the floating dock for a week, and, not 'reckoning xl'.e cba" , ges for . the first three or four days, it k resting about .£47 pw dry for the hire of the dock alone.
