SOCIAL EVENING

AT KOITERANGI HALL.

A most enjoyable evening was spent at the Public* Hall, Koiterangi, to celebrate., the corning of age of Miss Mavis Henley, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Cropper, of Koiteiangi. Tne hail woo beautifully decorated with native ferns by her fiends.

Tiie evening was spent in games? competitions and dancing, and was a great success. Trie music was supplied by Mrs M. Wallace and Messrs .Collett,' Mattingley, and T. Higgins. Mr Newbegan, of Timaru, acted of M.C. owing to the '.absence of Mr \W. Jamieson.-

About seventy guests' down to supper,' and the customary key was presented by Mr A. Cropper, also a unique bouquet, the gift of her greata'unt, Mrs Growoott, of Havelock North. The usual toasts wore honoured. Mr Mi Wallace proposed the “Guest of the eveiling'’; Mr Newbegah that o! “The Parents”; Mr Cropper “Mr and Mrs Palmer” ; Mr A. Shannon “Spinsters” ; Mr I. lievell “The coming of age of Miss E. Mehrtens”; Mr Growcott '“lke ,King.” Mrs Cropper received \ the guests wearing a black celanese frock relieved with net ; Miss M, Cropper, lemon ■.crepe de chine, relieved with mauve, thd.gift of her aunt, Mrs Weiblitz. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs C. Campbell, Mr and F. Brown, Mr and Mrs W. Palmer, of Frankton Junction; Miss Ada and Betty Growcott, . of, Havelock North; and Miss Ward of Tauranga. Competitions were won by .Misg 0., Micliell,' Messrs W. Fleming, and R*; Weiblitz, Monte Carlo, Miss J-. Michel! and Mr W. Higgins; Lucky Spot, Miss I. Jones and R. Boddiijgton. , The singing of Anld Lang Syne and God Save the King, brought this most enjoyable evening to a close.
