The Administration of the Northern , Territory received a wireless message from the plane Astren, engaged on the survey of the mail route, stating that she left Koeoang in the morning, but that .she was unable as intended, to reach Darwin, owing to headwinds, which had delayed the flight. Her petrol ran short, and the plane Voided at the aerodrome oil Bathurst T/dand. Arrangements are being made to send petrol across by launch. Bate burst Island has an cmergene.- landing ground one mile from the Roman Catholic Mission Station there, so that the nlane’s crew rjrmld be well cared for. .Strong south easterly winds made visibility bad owing to huph fires nlcng the coast. The Astitea is the fi v st plane to visit Bathur-t Island, where there is a runaway two mites teng by half a mile wide.
