TOKEN PAYMENTS

Ail the advances are in silver at the rate of arty cents per ounce, Italy .owed 13,646,0 d) dollars and paid 1,000,030; Finland owed a n d paid 148,594 dollars. Tne offers to pay 180,666, dollars by Czecbo-Slovakia and 26,006 by Rumania had also been received, but no reply had yet been made to these nations.
Seven countries, Belgium, Esthonia, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, and Yugo-Shvia, made neither payments, nor offers. Italy and Czechoslovakia asked for a debt review; Latvia paid 6000 dollars on an instalment cf 119,630 due.
DEBT ADJUSTMENT FAVOURED. BY BUSINESSMEN IN U.S.A. AUCKLAND, June 16. An Auckland business man, Mr W. J. Truscott, returned to-day from tho United States and Canada. He said that American businessmen favour a cancellation or at least an adjustment of war debts, but the mass of the people took the opposite view. However, the people were right behind Mr Roosevelt, so much that his Government was practically a dictatorship. There was a better business tone, particularly in the East. Exoorters anck manufacturers believed that at last the corner had been turned.
