FARMERS’ UNION
WEST COAST MEETING The annual meeting of the West Coast Provincial Farmers 1 Union was held in the Grey County Chambers yesterday, and was attended by Messrs A. J. Bradley (Chairman) W, T. Begg, W. Clayton (Grey Valley), H. G. Carter, W. Fisher, J. Mulcare INgahere), D, Shannahan (Greymouth), E. I. Pain (Cronadun), J. J. McKay (Harihat’i), L. Ditely (Arahura), and the Secretary (Mr F. W. Baillie. It was resolved to write to the Dominion executive asking for a. reply to the remit sent forward to the minister in regard to the high prices charged for native leases. It was resolved to make inquiries in collection with the marketing of pigs. Mr L. A. Ditely (Arahura) was elected President and Mr A. J. Bradley Vice President.
It was resolved that only the. President attend the N. Z. Conference. It was resolved to approach headquarters for a grant of £3O for the organising of the "West Coast.
REMITS The following remits were agreed with:— That the Government be again urged t 0 sat up a parliamentary committee to inquire into the monetary question.” ‘‘That Dominion Executive oppose, the restrictions being placed on our butter exports to the United Kingdom, and also urge the Dairy Control Board to develop trade with the East.” (2) “That the Government be urged to cancel regulations proclaiming certain rivers and creeks mi the West Coast as sludge channels.” (3) That Highway Board pay a subsidy on all country roads other thain subsidy to' he assessed on amount of motor traffic using their roads.
