CONTRACT BRIDGE

DRASTIC NEW RULE IN FORCE PENALTY FOR DELAYING BIDS LONDON, May 31. . Owing to players’ dilatcriness in bidding—an Austrian took 15 minutes to decide —the director of the International Contract Bridge match at Grosvenor House was forced to make a new rule. This was that if a player took more than five minutes to hid his side would be penalised 300 points. The admonition so upset the Austrians that they lost their match against England by the record margin of 2520 pbints.
