BIG RIVER GOLD MINES. • The first clean up at the battery •lias been completed, 241 ounces ot ■ limited gold being obtained (by vamalgamation only) from 3uo tons of ore crushed. The estimated value is £965 (exclusive of premium.on sale of gold and premium o. exchange). In audition, 2 tons of concentrates were produced from this crushing, and 100 tons of coarse .’sandy are now under treatment in the cyanide plant. This retuin is, considered very satisfactory, as the bulk- of the ore crushed was obtained from development faces, and therefore 'couldplot be kept clean and free from mullock. Crushing has now been suspended owing to shortage of water, but in future this will be overcome as a very large storage dam at the beau otVtlip, water race i.s now being repaired.
