BY MR MCGAVIN ONE MAN ONE JOB POLICY. At the conclusion of the 1 ordinary business at the Westland Hospital Board meeting last bvenihg,. Mr M. McGavin asked the chairman for a. ruling whether the secretary. of the Board should accept other employment during the'Board’s hours. He referred to Mr McCabe’s - working as a deputy returning ; officer at • the recent elections,V and ; He! was speaking without any animosity ) Whateverto the secretary, but desired to have a ruling on the matter, as he considered that the secretaryship .was’ a full time job. ■■■ The chairman • (Mr Jeffrice), said that a number of.othfers had done'the same.thing also. ij' Mr McGavin: Yes, I’think so, but lam against that. 1 / - •

W, Duff said 'that'he thought that the Returning Officer looked round to get the best men that he could for the position of- deputies, and he considered that the Returning Officer. should be "left/ to pick’ his' own deputies.- It would be a mess' persons Were appointed. Knights asked wether; notice of -motion should be given dr not in the'matter. The chairman, said that the matter had been brought up and discussion could t&ke place, and Mr McGavin could give notice of motion if desired. ! '
