.MONTHLY EXECUTIVE MEETING.. ■ LAST EVENING’S BUSINESS. The monthly meeting of the executive of the Hokitika branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association wag held in the club rooms last evening, there being present Messrs W. E, Brown (president), iR. Ajopleton, T. Lynch, ,0. Hart, S. 'Moore* J. L. fMensies, A. C. Armstrong, 10. A. King, T, Stuart, and G. G>-1-ehrigt. An apology was received from Mr T. Cooper, The president welcomed the new members of the committee, and trusted that they would enjoy as good a year: as Let. Mr -Moore briefly replied thanking the president for his welcome. Inward correspondence was dealt, with ■as follows : From Headquarters thanking the branch for cheque and return of poppies. From same regarding the remit from this branch advising that the remit in Question would he included in the •agenda, at the conference. From the Refistrar of Pensions, advising that the War Board .would sit at Grcymouth on June 26. The secretary stated that he had advertised particulars in the ilocal paper, and requested any soldier, who desires his case to be placed before tile Bo rd, to communicate with the secretary immediately. From the Public Works Department regarding compensation monies for an ex-GPi'viceman who had suffered injury in the course of liis employmont.—Received.
From Headquarters advising that tne National War Funds Council has forwarded a remittance of £25 to the Westland Patriotic Association.—Received. From the headmaster of the Kumar a School forwarding returns of poppies. —Received. From W. G. Nolan, Matainui, regard, ing an ex-solclier in indigent circumstances, who was recently in hospital, and inquiring regarding if Canteen Fun dp could ihe made available for Teh'of in this cose. The matter wa s deferred for further information. From an ex-soldier ,at Woodstock, applying for a, grant of clothing etc., from the relief depot. The matter was deferred for inquiry.
From the secretary R.S.A., Christchurch, explaining how the Christchurch branch sold poppies at Otira, and regretting 'that overlapping had occurred The explanation was regarded as quite satisfactory.
Accounts as .scheduled were passed for payment, the secretary reporting a ,r)<=l. revenue ef £24 14s Id from the Paddy’s market. The remits for the conference were discussed, and the secretary was in*„ structed in the attitude to he adopted towards the various matters. It. was decided to hold the annual re-union on Friday, July 28. It was decided to make inquiries regardin'? the foimotion of a cub-branch at Kumaiva, and to report to the next meet ing.
