FRENCH SLOOP

ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND. (Per Press Association — Copyright .) AUCKLAND, May 30. . The French war sloop, Savorgnan de Brazza-, of 2000 tons, -commissioned only this year, reached Auckland this morning and salutes with the naval bash at Devonport. I.she left Eorient on February 10 and passed through Panama, and has since been visiting the Islands in the Pacific. She will sail on June 10 for New Caledonia en route for Saigon, where she will be stationed. Commander Rosati, who is in charge of the ship paid courtesy calls to-day.

The ship carries thirteen officers and 130 men.

The first to reach the ship’s side this morning when the wharf gates opened were a number of boys, eager to improve their collection of match box tops.
