Oamaru, which for many years has enjoyed freedom from earthquakes, has experienced four in the last feAv days; tAvo on the 20th, one on the 21st, and another; at 5.40 o’clock this morning. Apart from a.very slight tretaor at the time of the Murchison ’Quake, Oamaru has not, had an earthquake for a long peifipd- •; 'A strange feature is that Timaru and Dunedin have not 'reported the shakes felt here last Aveek, one being a fairly sharp shock on the same day as that felt by the s.s.
