BLACK SLAVERY
SERIOUS CHARGES CONDITIONS IN AUSTRALIA. (Australian Press Association) (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) •SYDNEY, May 30. A deputation from the Association for the protection of native«races to the Minister of Interior; Mr Perkins, made allegations that conditions of slavery existed among Australian natives in the Northern Territory and elsewhere.
One speaker said: “We are signatories 'to an agreement against slavery, yet we have forced labour at present in Australia. Upon payment of a fee ■of two pounds, white men go out and (bring in blacks at the pistol point;” Another speaker said that fully ninetylive per cent, of the murders by abo-. rigineg of- men of other races were caused by interference with the woman of the blacks, ' ' V
The Minister replying, said he pfrposed to visit the Northern Territory next month.
