LINER TOO LARGE FOR PORT.

PARIS, May 13. So large is the new French luxury liner, Normandie, that she cannot get out of' the port of St. Nazaire with the quays arranged as they are at present. r Jhe Chamber of Commerce has, therefore, decided to raise a loan of £123,030 to defray- the cost of'-re-ir.iranging the wharfs so that the Normandie can enter and leave the, port. The liner, which is nearly 20,030 tons gross, bigger than the largest- 1 liner afloat, was launched at St. Nazaire on October 29 last.- She has a d i.sola com nt of' 70:000 tons, and an estimated speed of 30 knots. Her length is 1,027 feet, and her total height from keel to bridge is 128 feet.

She should be finished in the spring of 1934.
