WESTLAND COUNTY. A meeting of the (Mining Executive '(Unemployment) of the Westland County was held at the County Chambers at 7.35 p.m. on Saturday. Present: Messrs J. A. Murdoch (chairman), M. Keenan, W. Jeffries and supervisor Cooper. Apologies were made for the absence of Messrs C°x (certifying office l ’) and McClusky (unemployment committee The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed, and the outward correspondence was approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Unemployment Board, Wellington, approving of action of chairman in granting fly.—Received. From same, inquiring regarding what action was being taken for repayment of value of tent supplied.—Received, clerk to reply. From same, advising extra allocation had been made fo, r two further men on Ta'ipo Track, also stating that account rendered by th e Westland o°u nc U woul4 have attention on the return 01 Mr Jossep.—Received From same, regarding particulars of deductions, to be made by banks from gold won by men on subsidy, stating that the certifying officer would be advised of those particulars.—Received. From same, setting out the position as regards an applicant for gold-tmiling subsidy.'—Received," From Mame, -asking that account for tent| flys be paid direct to the Pubuo*'Worked Department, the Council then to claim from the Unemployment Board;—Received. From same replying to resolution at last meeting to the effect that the Board was willing to permit retailers to distribute boots which are to he procured for the unemployed providing they can present a scheme whereby

this can be done on a Dominion basis at a cost not exceeding ten per cent, of the manufacturer's cost. —Received, particulars to be published for information of retailers. From same, sending copy of letter forwarded to the Ross committee reeardlng supervisor H. Phillips.—Received.

Jolley, application for subsidy to commence from Ist June at claim at Waimea previously worked by him. and granted when eligible,tion for subsidy for prospecting along Rapitea Creek in 20 acre block held by him under mining title.—Received and granted. , From L. Muir, application at Rimu. —Received and declined, not eligible. The application of R. F. Harris, Bruce was referred to Mr Conradeon for report.
