Y. K. Mowll as Archbishop cf Sydney, according to roports—cJnhmvl to be authentic—circulating among churchmen. It is understood that the Church 'iitho'-itics. realising the circumstances in which the election was made, says fue Sydney correspondent cf th.e Melbourne Age, decided that it would he unfair not to make the archhishop•dect, who is now Bishop of Western China, fully aware of the position beforo pressing him with .an invitation to accept the post in Sydney. M ith this ’ll view it was decided to collect every* tiling in the way of written ~o r printed matter appertaining' to the election, including newspapers and periodicals pub" fishing articles, and forward these to China for Bishop Mowll’s perusal, so that he could gain a proper impression of the entire facts surrounding the matter.

When Bishop Mowll has given the matter due consideration it is understood that the official invitation will he extended to him. In many quarters it is considered a praiseworthy move. Friends of the Bishop state that his personality is such that the iaet that trouble appears to exist in Sydney may make Uijn all the more eager to accept the pogt. *
