Making a most complete break with the tradition 1 of voluntary exile, b~puh in'lß7o, the Pope to-day left the Vatican' for the second time since the reconciliation with Italy in 1929. The occasion was a High Mass at the I east, of tiie Ascension, at the church of Saint John Lateran, whither 'he was conveyed in state. The congregation included ex—King Alfonso, and Sir do Valera.
