CHRISTCHURCH, May 23. A committee, composed mainly obusiness men, which will co-ordinate all of relief of distress in Christchurch, was set up this afternoon at a meeting called by the Mayor, Mr D. . Sullivan. , It was stated, and wa s generally agreed, that a fund of shout £25,000 would have to Ik! found, which would provide each week about £I2OO. It was announced that one leading citizen had agreed to provide £IOO monthly for the next five months. A cheque for £IOO, was received from a Christchurch firm.
The meeting carried a resolution calling on the Unemployment Board to restore to the relief workers the amount of the ten. per cent, cut on tlioir wag,s.
