AUCKLAND. May 23
The Mt*. Roskill Town Board last evening authorised an increase in the salary of its clerk from £.350 to £3Bo, and of the foreman from £G to £6 6s 6d, ar)l the relief depot clerk by los. The chairman said: “1 think that if the public generally would take up the attitude that times are not so bad, there will he a better tone g?neiall> bodies generally would assist to a groat extent iti relieving the difficult situation if they followed this lead.
