LONDON, May 17. Speaking at the Guildhall, with considerable emotion, the Prince of Wales appealed to the Association oMunicipal Corporations, to lead a national campaign to sweep away the slums, which were a blot and a disgrace upon national life. He added that the slums must not be considered homes for the coming generation. “I personally inspected many, and was applied that such conditions exist civ.ij.ised . country. My experience,.>ho f given decent conditions,,; slum, dwellers would rise to their opportunities. Ninetyeight thousand families of five, persons occupy two rooms, or less.
