OWNERS DECIDE TO INCREASE

SYDNEY, May 18
The Associated Inter-State Shipowners decided to make an increase of i a shilling a ton in rates of freight, between Sydney and Brisbane, and Newcastle and Melbourne. The higher rates, which will operate on June 1, will be as fellows: 'Sydney-Bri-hare, 17s a ton; Molbourno-Brish'-’ne, 28s; Svdi.cv-Melbmtr o. 15s; NcrcastleMelbcurne, 18s Gd.
