Interviewed to-day, Mr W. Purdy, secretary of the Grey "Valley Miners’ Union, ridiculed Colonel Holgate’s statement that trouble is brewing amongst the coal miners on the ' WestCoast V
M r Purdy stated that the Engine Drivers’ Union agreement was not discussed at the last conference with the owners, when the main, agreement was arrived at. A conference had been tentatively arranged to take place towards the end of this month to 'discuss the engine drivers’ agreement, and, as the main agreement had now expired it was thought, that the time was opportune' to discuss the terms of a new sgrement at The same conference at which the c'gino drivers’ agreement would be dealt with.
