I A real “fish story” was told by the Mayor of Auckland (Mr G. W. Hutchison) at the Auckland Savage Club, when he turned the tables on members who indulged in badinage concerning the prowess of Mrs Hutchinson in catching a rainbow trout at Lake Hotoiti during their {recent vacation. Mr Hutchinson said some people were dubious about the Mayoress catching tin; fish. “Tt came about like this,” he said “We were having poor luck at fishing, and a Maori suggested, ‘By golly, ' you try this worm soaked in whisky;*’- ;Wo followed the advice, and aware of a struggle at the"'end of tho line. Wo had a great sublime..when Mrs. Hutchinson drew in .tjrn ‘catch,’ by. whisky, tlrpworm had seized a. large trout by the throat.” ;
