TWO HISTORIC SILVER TRIPODS

LONDON, May 8,
Australia will he given a n opportunity of acquiring two historic silver tripods bearing the motto and coat of arms of Lord -Sydney, after whom the city of Sydney w-a.q named. The tripods are shaped as flower containers, are built in the AVlams style, and bear a hall-mark dated 1806.
They belonged to the son of the Lord Sydney who wag concerned with Australia’s early history, and then came into the possession of Lady Seaforth..
Lady Seaforth’s death necessitates the sale by auction next year of a remarkable oolleition of antiques i n order to fulfil the clauses of hep will. It is understood that the executors ar e willing in the meantime to negoti ate privately with Australia if the tripods are desired for historic reasons-
