tuberculosis investigation

WELLINGTON, May 16,
Dr H. B. Tuvbott, medical officer of health in tjijg East Cape district, has been awarded the Dorothy Temple Fellowship in Tuberculosis by the Medical Research Council. He proposes to carry; out a very complete investigation into the question of tuberculosis among Maori people in a selected portion of his district. '
The inquiry will ho- largely clinical, but- also involves a full investigation into housing, and the nutrition of subjects examined. The work will not invole the-:' full time services of Dr. Turbott, who will continue to carry out his duties as medical officer of health and school medical officer.
Making the announcement, the Direc-tor-General of Health says that it is most gratifying to know that there is this measure of co-operation 'between New Zealand and Great Britain in regard to medical research, and he hoped that this would he the forerunnervftf similar investigations into matters of common interest to 'Great Britain and New Zealand.
