BY NATIVES' IN" NEW GUINEA,

BULOLO (New Guinea), (May 4

Furthe r details of the attack on a party near Surprise Creek show that the Government officer, ,Mr McCarthy, is suffering from a spear wound in the abdomen

The party was returning .from an expedition! which had as its object the capture of the natives who murdered Messrs Clarens and Naylor, projectors some months ago, and had captured twelve tof them. The hostile natives were in ambush, and wounded Mr McCarthy and six of the native police before they could be beaten off. The wounded men have been taken to Sakunoa, except a native policeman named Layne, who was too seriously wounded to be moved.
