PROTEST AGAINST REGULATIONS

The annual meeting of the Women Teachers’ Association was held to-day, Miss E. Andrews presiding. The following remits were passed

That children should be enrolled at the 'beginning of the term in which they reach the age of five years. That in view of the trend of modern ,education every - pressure should be brought "to bear on the Department for the immediate restoration of adequate school supplies.

Protesting again s t the recently enacted intermediate school regulations, on the |ground that they wereu re the - : i n the best interests of the children nor, according to the best practice in modern systems of education.

That the intermediate schools be re stricted to a two-years’ course.

That the regulations are inequitable and (unjustifiable as regard s the proposed staffing scale. The question of superannuation ibeing considered in committee.
