The Alunicipal Band’s opening Dance held last evening was a great Miccess, there being a splendid attendance and all thoroughly enjoyed the programmeo of old time and modern dances, the music being supplied by the band. It was announced that owing to counter attractions the dance had been postponed from last Friday, but would be held again next Friday and would continue fortnightly for the remainder of the season.

The monthly meeting of the Arahura Valley Womens’ Institute was held on Wednesday last. Present were the President (Mrs Havill) in the chaii and fourteen members, also a number of visiting friends. After the minutes were read and confirmed the Roll Call followed which was responded to hv “a knitting cr sewing hint.” In the competition for the best article made from a flour bag Mesdames Havill and Bennitt scored a tie. In the draw: the latter proved successful.
