CHALLENGE ISSUED
FROM ENGLAND TO AMERICA. SPEED BOAT SUPREMACY. Li.JNDON, Api i l 21. The Royal Motor Yacht. Club has cabled a challenge to America for the 'British International Trophy, which was won again last year by Gar Wood when ho del-dated Lord Wakefield s challenger equipped with two , RollsRoyce engines developing 50'J horsepower. Mr H. Scott Paine lias issued this year’s challenge. Against- the’7Boo horse-power of the four Packard engines of the. American defender last year, he intends to use one Napier engine of 1300 horse-power, pinning liis faith to a new boat design. Gu being interviewed he refused l to disclose details of his design, but Said that full-.ieale experiments had proved very ‘‘illuminating.” The new challenger will he Miss Rhit'afjn TIT., and the .contest will take platw at Detroit between August 1. and September 30. The engine to be used is one that was fitted to a. Schneider Trophy seaplane of 1929.
