THEFT OF £3618

CASHIER. PLEADS GUILTY. WELLINGTON, April 26. Stated to have had control in the handling of (approximately £60,000 a year as cashier in the Wellington office of Huddart, Parker Company, Archibald James Glen, 39, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to-day to stealing £3618 18s 2d from the company. The evidence showed that defalcations bad taken place. over a period oi five years. When questioned by the manager of the company, the accused had made a confession. In a statement the accused said be had received only £4 12s Id weekly. Sickness in liiis home had involved him in expense, ai d his position in the ce—pany compelled him to liv'e on a higher scale than hi',s salary provided for. The accused was committed to the Supieme Court for sentence.
