NO APPOINTMENT
SUCCESSOR TO AIR, T. B. STRONG. EDUCATION DIRECTOR RETIRES. The Director of Education '(Mr T. B. Strong), who arrived fiom the north yesterday, will retire on May 1, but, so far as lie knows, no successor lias been appointed. In an interview Mr Strong said lie did not know whether any steps'towards finding a successor had been made, and lie lias only four more days in the position. ■Warm appreciation of a motion eulogising his services passed at the last meeting of the Canterbury Education Board, was expressed by Mr Strong.
“The boards generally have been most generous 'in their appreciation of my services, notwithstanding the fact that we have not always seen eye to eve on administrative matters,” said Air Strong. “In every case, I gladly acknowledge the willing assistance given, not only by the education hoards, but also by tlv» boards controlling secondary and technical •schools.”
