FARMERS FEARS. QUESTION TO BE DISCUSSED. CHRISTCHURCH, April 27. Contending that, the placing of the motor transport business in the hands of a few bjg firms would' he adverse to the interests of farmers, Mr W. W. Miilliolland, at a: meeting of the North Canterbury executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union yesterday, urged that the new regulations should in' discussed at the coming •Provincial Conference. Mr MulhoUnnd said that he was very suspicious that the big transport companies and the Ministry had come to an agreement. If that was the case the smaller firms would very soon, he out of business. “As far as the farmers are concerned,” said Mr Mulholland, “the small operator in the transport field is our best servant, and it is to him that we look for quick and economical service. If the regulations are. going to put the transport business entirely in the hands of a few big companies the sooner we jump ou it the better.” Other members agreed with -Mr Mulliolland, and on his motion it was decided that the -iilegulatibns should be forwarded to the Provincial Conference which will be held on May 18 at Christchurch:
