The tragic deatTi of the famous “Bachelor Judge” MeOni’die whose pronouncement wove always read by millions, came as a great shock to the ipublic. The newspipers devote columns to his passing, and his career. No revelant document hag been found. No more fearless judge ever .sat on England’s Judicial Bench, and none more open minded, just or humane. He never hesitated to declare the time had arrived when a broader, more liberal view was necessary of some of the existing flaws. .Speaking at a banquet, h e declared that fearlessness, honesty and independence on the part of our judges was the mainstay of English jusfi’oo. There often were light moments in bis court. He said that a little -humour was necessary if an atmosphere of humanity and- kindness were to be maintained.
