SYDNEY, April 26,
At the woolj sales to-day, ,10,)949 bales were offered and 10,361 were sold, also 273 privately. The market displayed a hardening tendency, with the competition animated, especially, on Continental and Yorkshire' account. Greasy merino fleece sold to lourteen pence.

LONDON, April 25.
Business on the London'Stock Exchange was very dull • this morning, although South African gold mines were good. ’ ' A feature of-the business was the firmness of British Government stock, which on some good buying, recorded appreciable gains, with war loan 3| per cent, at £lO2.
A new Government of India loan is announced at 3£ per cent., 1947 to 1950. The interest rate of per cent, indicates that India’s credit stands high, and is in striking contrast to September, 1931, when its Treasury, bonds stood at Gj per cent.
NATIONAL INSURANCE COY.
DUNEDIN, April 26,
The Directors of the National Insurance Company have declared an interim dividend of ‘ four pence per share for the half year ended March 31, payable on May 15.
