’.SHANGHAI, April 26. Sporadic fighting continues up North China along the Luan River. Pekin reports indicate that the Japanese are starting a gradual withdrawal to position.? along the Great Wall, they having now accomplished their purpose. The conditions at Chimvangtno and Paitaiho are calm, following on the Japanest occupying those cities. The alarm in the Peking and Tientsin areas is subsiding, since there are no indications that the Japanese intend to. invest those areas.
The dispute, between Manchukuo and the Soviet regarding the former’s seizure of the Chinese Eastern (Vladivostock) Railway rolling stock and its ownership continues, but it is confined largely to an exchange of notes. Harbin reports state there is a large concentration of Soviet troops along the border awaiting any sudden development.
