At the twenty-eighth egg-laying competition of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club held at Papanui, Christchurch, and which concluded on March 25, a team of three Black Langshans, owned by Mr A. Dalziel, Karoro, Grey mouth, brought honours to the West Coast, for the first time sine the inception of the club. In the test for any variety, other than White Leghorns or Black Orpingtons, Mr Dalziel’s birds won first place in both the single bird and the three bird aggregates, the scores being 258 and 688 eggs in the respective classes. They also won first place in the throebird aggregate winter test, won the Challenge Shield (for any variety other than White Leghorns or Black Orpingtons), and two certificates of merit awarded for birds laying 220 eggs and over for 51 weeks, averaging 240 zto the dozen.
