CALCUTTA. April 22
Ther© i s no trace of th e Italian airman, Robbiano, despite a vigorous search of thg coast east of Bengal, but wreckage from a plane has been found bearing Italian marks with a notebook containing details of landing grounds, en route to Australia. Villagers in the South West, of S<mdwijp Island, near N oak ha! i, report hearing a loud explosion off the coast in t-ne early hours of the morning of April 15. suggesting that Robbiano had crashed in the darkness while Hying towards the coast of Burma.

CONTINUATION OF SEARCH
PARIS, April 22
The T-i’ans-Saharienne Air Company reports there i$ no sign of Captain Lancaster, though their planes have searched for miles along his supposed route. Scores of caravan drivers, natives and desert tribesmen have been questioned. It is believed, that Lancaster got a- long way off his course, The search continues,

Miss Jean Batten, the Aucklander, who, under doctor’s orders, remained in her room at Karachi from Monday to Wednesday, seeing no one, slipped away quietly on Wednesday nigKt, by steamer, for England. A Royal Air Force machine has left to search for Mi's Bonney, who is still missing. Before leaving, she said that if she were missing, the foreshore should be searched, -as she had .a s m aß collapsible boat.
