OLD MAN KILLED
SHOT AT BREAKFAST. TABLE
, GUNDAGAI, April 17:
Joseph Jentini, aged- about 72, was shot dead while having breakfast at his home at ajb.out 8.3 l) a.n;. ;to-(lay. 'Lhe shooting happened with dramatic suddenness. Jentini and his wife, who have been residents of the town for several years, were at breakfast, when an elderly man. walked into the room. Ho carried, a double-barrelled gun, and lie made for Jentini.
“Now I’ve, got you,” he is alleged to have said at, the same time levelling the gun in a. threatening. manner. Before the Jentinis could: utter a word a shot was fired: Jentini swayed from his chair to the floor, and lay inert, wth blood pouring from his head. His was a frightful wound, and •death was installtafteous; Mrs Jentini screamed, and remained moaning iii her chair. She had been shocked into-helplessness. The man with the. gun left the room and sat on the front odorstep of the Jentinis’ cottages. Neighbours alarmed by the gunshot, rushed into the cottage. Horrified at what , they saw, they led Mrs Jentini away and brought the. police to the cottage. ' At the Gundagai ‘Police Court to-day Jack Cooper, aiged: about .65, a wellknown local resident-was charged with murdering Joseph ;. Jbntini.,. Cooper was remanded .to appear at the Cor-, roller’s Court-.. The Coroner found that Jentini was maliciously murdered by Cooper. He committed Cooper, for trial at the Central Criminal Court.
