Mr .S. Lowther, of Sedclonville, in attempting to- start ia motor-cycle, lost control of the machine, which crashed into - the doorway of a store nearby. Little Jessie- McDonald, the six-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs J. McDonald, who was standing near the doorway, was' knocked down land received a broken leg. A four-roomed house, owned by the Forest Sawmilling Company and occupied by Mr L. Pepper, was completely destroyed, by fire at Nelson Creek, on Saturday evening, about 7.30 o’clock. Mr Pepper was visiting Greymouth an the time and the house was unoccupied. The furniture and effects were covered by insurance in the AP.A. Office. There is a small .insurance policy on the building, the Company’s insurance being held in Christchurch. Good work bv volunteers prevented the flames spreading to a nearby residence.
