BOXING SUPRISE
LARRY GAINS COUNTED OUT,

The Prince of Wales was among the spectators at the Albert Hall who witnessed one of the strangest events in the history of boxing. McCorkin-dalo wa lS fighting Larry Gains, the Canadian negro, in a tenround bout, but the Empire title was not- involved. McCorkindale delivered n blow to the jaw in the last round, which -fellled Grins, v'.n, v3V3f, rolled over at three, rested on one knee and prepared to rise when the time-keeper had counted to seven. The referee, Mr C. Douglas, counted with him simultaneously to nine and then nhouted “Out,” despite the fact that Gains was rising ijind the timekeeper had not finished the count. The incident has caused newspapers to demand that a Board of Control should define/ accurately the duties of the timekeeper and the referee.
