COMMITTEE MEETING
Thu Committee of the Club met ;it the Secretary’s residence last night at 8 o’clock. Present:—Messrs J. J. Mclntosh .(president), p. McGicgor, H. Butland, J. J. Breeze, M. H. Houston, R. Whiley, A. W. Yarrall, H. T. Parry and D. J. Evans. Mr F. McGregor presided over the earlier proceedings, Mr Mclntosh being engaged at another meeting. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From C. W. Spencer, Reef ton, thanking the Club for nomination to the \ T .Z. Racing Conference.— Received. From F. Clark, secretary Westport Trotting Club, replying that the Club disapproved of two trotting events being included in the 'Christmas meeting of the Westland Racing Club, as racing on the same dates, the events would detract from the Westport meeting.—Received. In view of the definite. nature of the reply it was resolved not to send a deputation to Westport the next day to discuss the matter further. Mr J. Noble, Reef ton;" granting a concession in the handicapper’s fee.— Received with thanks. From H. Lynch, Papanui, supplying terms for the conduct of the win tand plaice miniehftnesi. —Received and accepted with thanks. From N.Z, Railways, notifying train arrangements for Hokitika races on usual lines Received with thanks, From N.Z. Racing Conference, circulars in reference to various mutters. —ReceivedGENERAL. It was notified the rights to two publicans booths and the sweets stall would he sold by public auction on Tuesday next. The secretary reported entries for i he meeting were coming to hand satisfactorily, and a large entry was assured. The caretaker reported provision was iow being made for the second machine at the totalise tor house, and everything would lie in order. The general arrangements wer.3 being made on the usual lines. The track was in good order. The secretary reported regarding the financial position, and stated funds were needed to discharge some pressing liabilities. It was resolved to ask members to pay subscriptions in arrears without delay, and that the members’' be circularised with a view to paying subscriptions in advance when convenient. Mr Parry reported >a meeting of ladies had been, held that afternoon with regard to the ball, and the necessary arrangements had been put iu train. Mrs H. Thompson was appointed chairwoman and there was a committee of fourteen. The caretaker was asked to report regarding the cost of some pipe drainage works, and members who could, to inspect the work referred to. The meeting concluded at 9,15 o’clock,
