HELD PRISONERS BY PIRATES.

RUGBY, April 4.
The Jj’oriegii Soyrotnvy, Sit Jehu Simon, in the House of Commons, said that the British Minister at looking has confirmed tlmt the steamer N.'inchang of the China Navigation Company was attacked at noon on the 2d til of March by a large force ot pirates while at anchor orf* the mouth of Liao river.
Tiie pirates carried off four subordinate British officers) and made up the river. The sloop Cornflower proceeded to Newchang. and ail officer attached to the British legation at Peking was also sent there.
Urgent representations were made to the local authorities and to the Japanese Government, and all possible steps were being taken to land river police in concert with Manchurian coast guards, also seaplanes, and a number of junks that were being employed to carry on a search. The Japanese Government had instructed their suboidinate authorities to afford all possible assistance. -
