The liard-up ball in aid of the Plunket baby ‘contest takes. place in the Totara Hall, Ross, on Wednesday evening next, sth. inst. Tliii ladies’ committee are sparing not ■ to make the function a great Special prizes have been donated ’ best costumes, for waltzing and for / other events. ~ . ,
The Ross orchestra will supply the music and Messrs Head and Richards will have charge of the floor. Pat. rolls can be assured of an enjoyable evening’s entertainment.
ROSS SPORTS
The annual sports meeting takes place on Easter Tuesday, 18th. April. The programme is similar to that of 0last year, the big chop carrying £25 Ist. prize; £8 2nd. prize; £3 3rd. prize , . and the winner of . each heat receives £l. Nominations for the Riinp> cipal event close next Saturday, Bth. inst.
The Greymouth Municipal Band will be in attendance on sports ground.
Judging by the many inquiries for programmes (several applications being from Christchurch) the indications are that nominations will he more numerous than previously.
