Upon the resumption of the Stewart, courtmartial, Lieut. Eric Wright, accused’s brother, said: “1 told him that he was a fool when lie admitted receiving money from Marie Louise. He tried to justify himself and quoted one of hi s commanding officers regarding marriage.
“I was disgusted and closed the matter. i tried to disuade him from visiting Marie Louise.”
Mr Parks, counsel for the defence, ul-ged that it would be awful to convict an officer of a great regiment on charges based on remote suspicion ana mere coincidence. Even if Obst ana Marie Louise were secret service agents, Stewart would not necessarily know.
Major Shapcott recalled that the Peace Treaty lorbade Germany possessing tanks. Therefore, that country would be anxious to secure the latest information, Obst and Marie Louise, n innocent, would have attended the courtmartial. The hearing was adjourned,
