Two men wh 0 were arrested near Opotiki last week, after a .somewhat exciting man hunt, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Gisborne to-day before Mr .Harper, SAC The accused wer e Widkni Ramsdon Avery, aged 25; atid Alfred Norman O’Meara, aged 30, who wer. e jointly charged with breaking, entering and theft in Gisborne, and with Assault and robbery at Tokomar u Bay.

Accused' pleaded guilty to the first charge, and were committed for sentence After lengthy evidence was heard Jon 'th© second charge, accused pleaded not guilty, and were committed to the 'Supreme Court for trial.
