EXTREMES IN AUSTRALIA.

SYDNEY, March 21

Extremes of temperature were experienced in New South Wales on Sonday and Monday. There was oppressive heat on Sunday, but then there came a sudden change over-night. The people shivered on Monday. The temperature by midnight had fallen to 49 degrees, the lowest recorded here for March since the year 1866.

The readings in the Southern Highlands were down in the thirties.
